The University of Baltistan, Skardu, has launched a two-day programme of Independence Day celebrations featuring various academic, creative, and patriotic competitions.

In his message, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Akhtar said Independence Day is an opportunity to renew the national commitment to Pakistan’s development, stability, and intellectual progress. He appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and participation, saying that the youth are the nation’s greatest asset.

In the first round of the Urdu Speech Competition, 18 students participated, out of whom six qualified for the final based on their outstanding performances. The finalists included Nihal Ali, Urooj Fatima, and Naila Parveen from the Department of Computer Science; Pakiza Hassan and Aliza from the Department of English; and Tahira Batool from the Department of Education.

A total of 12 contestants participated in the Painting Competition and showcased their artistic abilities. Suraiya Batool from the Department of Educational Development secured first position, Zahra Batool from Software Engineering secured second position, while Shaista Jabeen from the Department of Educational Development secured third position.

The celebrations will conclude on August 14 at 10:00 a.m. with a flag-hoisting ceremony, national songs, cake cutting, and final rounds of the competitions. Certificates and prizes will be distributed among the winners at the conclusion of the programme.
